...possibly the busiest week
we’ve had so far!
On Tuesday, we had our very
first swimming session, which was a huge success and resulted in the endless
question… “When is it swimming again?’ Mr Smith and Mr Zi began the lesson
explaining carefully to the class all the things we must do to keep safe
and happy.
We also began our phonic and general Games parent volunteer session, playing a letter sound reading/memory
game.
Wednesday also brought a
great day, spending much of it talking and learning about the Hindu celebration
of Diwali. The children listened to the story of Diwail, made Rangoli patterns,
and drew round their hands to then draw Mendhi patterns.
We were so very fortunate to
have had Bhavna in (Vidushi’s mummy) to talk to the class about the story of
Diwali, how people celebrate Diwali and to share many wonderful, interesting
photographs of Vidushi and her family celebrating. Vidushi shared all she knew, too,
which was lovely to hear. The highlight of the day was the Rangoli pattern
making, Bhavna bringing in dozens of flowers- marigolds and orchids. It was a
splendid sight, not to mention smell, and the children loved to moment all the
candles in the Diyas were lit.
Thursday has been a fun
filled, particularly animated day of Halloween antics. We were again very fortunate
to have in Lisa (Ava’s mummy), who had prepared so many creative, engaging art
and craft Halloween activities. She also brought in Halloween stories, treats
for the class and helped us bake Halloween sugar and spice pumpkin seed
muffins.
