Art Festival

I am sure you will all agree, but wasn't today just wonderful! We are so proud of K1LaD, their efforts, enjoyment and confidence shining through their chant and dance. Here is a short selection of some photos leading up to the big day. 

 

K1LaD End of Year Party

Can you really believe how quickly the end of year has come about? I know I certainly cannot. This year, my first year, at UWCSEA has been an incredible journey for us all. The children have learnt and experienced so much. Both professionally and personally, Miss Sheila and I, strongly feel K1LaD have been an absolute delight and joy to teach. 

It is wonderful to see how they have grown as individuals, but as a class too, and upon recent reflections with the children, recognising how they are all ready to move onwards and upwards!

Thank you - parents, carers, helpers and extended families for supporting us this year and helping to make your children's K1 journeys so very special.

Aquatics

We had a super morning at Bedok swimming pool today, showing off some amazing swimming skills, a bucket full of confidence and playing many games. It was a fun fuelled morning all round!

Thanks to all the P.E. staff who organised and set-up this fantastic morning for us, and in particular to David Smith.

Share Our Learning

Here are a few photos from 'Share our Learning' on Wednesday. The children very much enjoyed being the teacher, showing many of the concepts and strategies, such as counting and calculating skills, they have mastered during their K1 year. 

Butterfly Park

On Monday morning we had a wonderful time visiting the butterfly park on Sentosa Island.The children learnt all about the life-cycle of a caterpillar/butterfly and got to hold both a butterfly and chrysalis.

They also got to learn more about other creepy crawly insects, such as stick insects, and some children were particularly brave in allowing these to crawl onto their hands and arms! 

This week we have been looking at butterflies through our based activities - concentrating on shape, pattern and colour through mathematical symmetry. A favourite artist of mine from the UK, Lily Greenwood, has produced some inspiring beautiful paintings of these delicate creatures.

Lao Shi Day

This afternoon the children had a wonderful time undertaking activities by our Chinese teachers - aka the Grade Five students! Here a few photos from the afternoon:

It's Alive!

Developing the children's interest in 'Living Things', in cooking this week, we made ant biscuits - a "delicious" (according to James!) recipe, using condensed milk and other yummy ingredients. We talked about the body parts of ants, as well as their shape and colour.

We also invited into our class some of the Grade One children, to show us their "snail farms", which provoked a lot of questions! Thankfully (although only a matter of time...), nobody in K1LaD has brought a load in from the playground.
