Another busy week!

This week in K1LaD we have been busy learning how to record what we know. The children have been introduced to using a whiteboard, pen and rubber to support their learning and they all enjoyed the challenge of helping Sammy- our "pet" snake- to write simple CVC words.

The children have also recently begun, alongside their carpet phonic sessions, a maths carpet session. This is a time when all the children are engaged in learning about a specific mathematical concept, through role-play and lots of visual and kinaesthetic props.

In these sessions we often create a scenario and use classroom items to reinforce the mathematics behind the scenario or problem. The children love it! We've been talking about our favourite things- food, games etc. this week, so used counting and sharing food as a way into maths.

Here are a few children to took what they learnt about numbers- counting and recognising number- away with them.
